What should a man wear to a wedding as a guest? How to dress as a wedding guest

• Follow the dress code. "Formal" or no dress code means a suit and tie. "Black tie" means a tuxedo. "Smart casual" means a suit or blazer without a tie.
• Don't compete with the groom. Avoid white, ivory and cream suits unless the couple asks for them.
• Summer weddings: lighter blues, greys and linen suits.
• Autumn and winter weddings: burgundy, olive, brown and tweed or herringbone suits.
